THE KILL DEVIL HILLS
The Kill Devil Hills’ gripping live acts and recorded work have variously been described as swamp, punk, country-rock, blues and folk. The diverse textures of the band’s sound ranges from mournful heart-heavy ballads to screeching, visceral jungle punk. Having toured Australia extensively, the band has also started venturing abroad and touring the US and Canada, and will be in Europe in the 2010 summer. The multi-award-winning group has spent the best part of 2009 completing their third album, Man, You Should Explode. In a four stars out of five review of their second album The Drought, the Sydney Morning Herald said that they: “like the Drones, (...) have drunk in classic country-rock forms learned from Dylan, the Band and Tom Waits and transmuted them through a distinctly Australian Imagination.”
